Lutheran Women's Missionary
League
Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML), with a membership of nearly 200,000 is the official women's auxiliary of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod. For almost 60 years, the LWML has been encouraging and equipping women to live out their lives in active mission ministries and to financially support global mission projects.
The Michigan District LWML, organized in 1944, includes local groups from congregations in both the upper and lower peninsula of the state of Michigan.
Our Mission Statement
The mission of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League is to assist each woman of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod in affirming her relationship with the Triune God so that she is enabled to use her gifts in ministry to the people of the world.
Structure of LWML
Local groups meet regularly for spiritual growth, fellowship, mission work and specific projects. The Michigan District has 357 of these functioning groups within congregations.
Zones are made up of a number of groups located in close proximity. The Michigan District LWML is made up of 25 zones. Each zone sponsors semi-annual events that encourage and equip women to serve.
Conventions are held at the District and International levels alternating years. Each convention brings diverse women together for spiritual growth, fellowship and mission focus.
Mission Projects
Anyone who wishes to give to mission may use a mite box, a small box used to receive gifts to support projects and programs of the LWML. Contributions are collected regularly and sent to the district LWML. Monies are divided 75% for LWML district mission work and 25% for International LWML mission.

Publications
Lutheran Woman's Quarterly is the official LWML magazine that is distributed to each member featuring articles on missions, education, and Bible studies.
The Networker - The Congregation Connection is mailed twice a year to each local group with happenings and helps from the International LWML.
The Michigan Lutheran, the official newspaper of the Michigan District, LC-MS regularly features the LWML page. It encourages Christian fellowship as it includes district news on mission and local events.
LWML in Action is the Michigan District newsletter that is distributed to all the LWML representatives of the local groups of each congregation. It includes district news on mission and local events.
