Rev. A.W. Radtke1951-1953The Rev. A.W. Radtke, who had been called to develop this field and to be its regular Pastor, was installed on February 11, 1951. The Rev. Otto Riedel of Jackson, delivered the installation sermon with the Rev. Fred Miller performing the rite of installation. The service was attended by 115 people. Approximately eight people were from the Hudson area. In the first official meeting, the Church Council, composed of three men and the Pastor, officially established a communicant list of eight members. Others were interested, but it was obvious at the time that these eight people were the only ones who could be called upon to shoulder the responsibilities. In March the Mission Board began the construction of a parsonage for Pastor Radtke and his family, who were temporarily quartered in a cottage at Manitou Beach. The Parsonage was completed and dedicated on September 30, 1951. The Rev. Kenneth Runge delivered the sermon and Pastor Radtke preformed the rite of dedication. The service was attended by 101 people with 70 people present from the Hudson area. |
Pastor Richard Bernthal1955-1957Pastor Radtke served as pastor from February 11, 1951 to the spring of 1953. Pastor Otto Riedel, Circuit Counselor of the Adrian Circuit, was the vacancy pastor until Pastor Richard Bernthal was installed on August 2, 1953. Under his administration, the work at Our Saviour flourished. However, it was with regret that the congregation saw him leave for new duties at Milan in June 1957. |

After working in our midst for twenty-one months, he received and accepted a call to a new mission at Auburn, Michigan. On July 12, 1959 he preached his farewell sermon. During the vacancy, Pastor Vernon Schwartz of Hillsdale served faithfully as vacancy pastor. |
Pastor Charles H. Chaveriat1960-1962After a long vacancy, the call to Our Saviour was extended to Pastor Charles H. Chaveriat at Howard City, Michigan. He accepted it and was installed on January 31, 1960. |

Pastor Carl Clabusch1963-1974Pastor Carl Clabusch came to Hudson in 1963, after a year of vacancy, served again by Pastor Schwartz. We were growing and soon there was not enough room for everyone at family night potlucks, Sunday School rooms became very crowded and there was "standing room only" for special services. There was a large Walther League group who were committed to the church and very active. In 1967 the decision was made to build a new church. Many architectural visits were made to other churches for ideas. Hours were spent going over blueprints. Ground was broken for the permanent buildings in the fall of 1970. The parsonage was moved to the south and turned one-quarter turn. On March 19, 1972 the new church was dedicated. Pastor Clabusch had been ill during these years and felt a younger leader was needed here. Therefore, in 1973 he retired from Our Saviour Hudson. |
Pastor Leo Kostizen1974-1978Pastor Leo Kostizen came to Hudson from Canada in 1974. He instituted the Kennedy Evangelism Course. After instructions, a small group made calls weekly for a year but no immediate positive response was noted. Some success has been seen in later years. During this time the question of women voting in the church was discussed. This was a very heated controversy. Pastor Kostizen was able to bring this to a successful conclusion and women were given the right to be voters and hold certain offices. In 1975, the church had been a mission church receiving subsidy from the Michigan District Mission Board for 25 years, but near the end of the year we voted to become self-supporting. This was a huge leap of faith. Pastor Leo Kostizen was called to St. John's Lutheran Church in Ionia, Michigan in 1978. |

Pastor William Dostert1978-1987Pastor William Dostert came to Hudson as a Vicar in 1978. He was ordained and installed on April 22, 1979 as pastor of Our Saviour. The year of vacancy and short duration of pastors at Our Saviour seemed to be taking a toll. People were discouraged at our lack of growth but Sunday School classes and Vacation Bible School continued. More ladies became active in the Lutheran Woman's Missionary League, and a coffee hour after service was begun. Pastor Dostert kept busy making calls on the many sick and elderly of the community, both churched and unchurched. A group of young married couples became very dedicated and a community outreach was started with baseball and bowling teams, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Lions Club, Senior Citizens, and a Community Preschool using the building. Pastor Dostert served in Hudson until June 1987. |
Pastor Todd Brunworth1988-2002Pastor Todd Brunworth came to Our Saviour as vacancy Pastor in April 1988 for a period of three months. He then was called and installed as full time pastor on July 31, 1988. There was a resurgence in church attendance, Bible Study, and mission-mindedness. Community outreach began with the addition of an Easter Egg Hunt, a Live Nativity, a Friend’s Day, and a Christmas Concert for the community. The church sponsored Hudson Boy Scout Troop 650. A Community Preschool also met here. In March, 2002, Pastor Todd was called to serve Trinity Lutheran Church in Gaylord and was installed as their Pastor on May 5, 2002. The members of Our Saviour Lutheran Church wish him God’s blessings as he continues to serve the Lord. |
